Turnkey fixtures IMT

Fixtures, sometimes referred to as clamping units or adapters, are complex test devices designed to securely hold products in place and ensure reliable contacting during electrical testing. They are primarily developed for printed circuit boards (PCBs), flexible PCBs, and final products of various geometries. This includes solutions involving connectors, through-hole (THT) components, as well as applications requiring so-called side access contacting.

Their structure, size, and design vary depending on the test methodology, typically distinguishing between ICT (In-Circuit Test) and FCT (Functional Circuit Test) fixtures.

The core function of a test fixture is to fix the unit under test in a stable position and perform electrical testing via contact probes.

Thanks to our cooperation with leading fixture chassis manufacturers such as ATX, MG Products, and GPS, we are able to deliver customer-specific solutions on these platforms, while also adapting to end-user preferences through fully custom-designed fixtures.

For contacting, we utilize spring-loaded contact probes from Feinmetall. We also integrate additional technologies related to PCB manufacturing and testing, such as LED testing via FEASA systems or code reading solutions for full product traceability.

We produce fixtures for

  • FCT / ICT testing (including dual-stage contacting options)
  • Product flashing (ISP – In-System Programming)
  • End-of-Line (EOL) testing of final products
  • Specific PCBs or flexible PCBs
  • Precise product positioning and alignment
  • Connector-based contacting, including side access contacting

Key benefits of IMT fixtures

  • Reliable contacting for ICT and FCT applications
  • High mechanical durability for long-term operation
  • Full compatibility with customer testing systems

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Are the fixtures primarily intended for mass production?

  • Primarily yes, however, we also design fixtures for R&D and prototyping environments.

2. Can you handle non-standard product shapes?

  • Yes, we specialize in mechanically complex applications and atypical product geometries.

3. Can a fixture be modified if the PCB or product changes?

  • Yes, provided that modifications are feasible with respect to test points, component layout, and pressure/contact areas. Alternatively, interchangeable cassette systems can be implemented within a single fixture chassis.

4. Is it possible to contact and test a fully assembled product, or only PCBs?

  • Our fixtures can be fully customized for End-of-Line (EOL) testing, enabling testing of complete final products.
